A Box of Quotes

I’ve always been fond of reading and writing.  The first time I’ve ever wrote and kept a journal or diary was when I was 10 years old.  Back in those days, I just basically write the things that happened during the day or I use it as a channel to speak up my mind and emotion. But nowadays, I write to share information and life lessons to thousands of people.

Other than writing, I was also a bookworm.  I love reading books.  During high school, I’ve read and collected fiction books and comics like Sweet Valley High, Archie Comics, Stephen King’s work, and etc.  Back then, I already had my mini-library.  But as I grew older and mature more in life, I’ve started to read non-fiction books too, especially on self-improvement, business, management, marketing and investing.   Fortunately, my husband was a booklover too.  Right now, our home library has grown into hundreds of book.  And we hope to grow it more in the years to come.

My interest in reading and writing has resulted for me to also create my so-called “Box of Quotes”.

What is a Box of Quotes?

Box of Quotes is a collection of motivational and inspirational phrases, quotes, sayings or words of wisdom to live by.  I’ve collected it from the books I’ve read, people I look up and listen to, as well as my own personal realizations.

The picture displayed in this article is the image of my personal Box of Quotes. It has all the words of wisdoms I try my best to follow and live by.  Also, it consists of lessons and words that I’ve personally written.

My box of quotes is like a treasure box for me.  Because I treat those words, phrases and quotes as more precious than any luxurious items.  Because these words are huge part of the person I have become and the success I have achieved.

It’s my pleasure to share with you some of the words, quotes and phrases included in my box of quotes.  I’ll share 10 quotes that are randomly picked.

What are the Benefits of having a Box of Quotes?

My box of quotes has helped me walk through life with positive attitude; it boosts my self-confidence and it feeds me with life wisdoms that will be hard to receive somewhere else.  And I’m confident that it does the same to people who keep their own box of quotes.

If you don’t have your own box of quotes, let me show you the benefits of having one:

1. Keeps You Positive, Especially During Crisis

Every day, it became a habit of mine to read a quote from my box of quotes.  It helps in reminding and building enthusiasm towards the day.  Also, I remember during the time I was experiencing crisis in life, reading quotes has helped me have courage and strength to keep moving forward in my life, even despite the pain and difficulty.

2. Gives You Motivation and Inspiration

I’ve noticed that people who have achieved self-mastery, success and growth in life are usually inspired and motivated by a phrase or words that they try to live by.  I remember when I read biographies of successful people, they always have words or quotes that has motivated and inspired them towards their own success.

Also, when I was still employed in a Big Four Accounting Firm, I remember that our workplace has frames with words written in it, like Excellence, Integrity, and Respect for people.  It was very useful to keep employees motivated and inspired to do their best at work.

3. Boosts Your Self-Confidence

Phrases and quotes give you self-confidence to pursue your goals and to live a more meaningful life.  Every day, there are so many negative distractions and criticism in our life that sometimes it pulls our confidence downward.  But if you have box of quotes and read them every day, no matter how much criticism and negative distractions will come your way, it won’t break your self-confidence.

4. Guides you on Your Decisions and Actions

I see a lot of people who are not confident enough to decide on their own.  They seek approval from people before they make decisions and actions.  Oftentimes, the reason is because they don’t like to be criticized or they are afraid to fail.

However, having your own box of quotes will help you become more clear and firm with your decision and actions, regardless of what other people say and no matter how uncertain the outcome is.

5. Provides You with Life Wisdoms

It’s a sad reality that most people, who wants to achieve success and make a difference in the world, has to seek wisdom from people out of their circle of friends and family.

Not everyone is able to acquire life wisdoms and principles. This is why only few succeeds and make a difference in the world, because only few are willing to spend time learning these wisdoms and principles.

But you have the capacity to learn it and be reminded of it, by keeping a box of quotes with you.  It’s like having a mentor that teaches and guides you when no one is around to give the guidance you need.

6. Contribute to Your Maturity in Life

Maturity happens when you are able to think, decide and act for your own life.

In a world full of people, it gets harder for most to achieve self-mastery and maturity.  Most people desire to belong rather than make a difference.

But having words of wisdom in your box of quotes can help you get focus and be more independent in becoming who you really want to be.

For a final note, remember that words are powerful.  As Napoleon Hill has said,

Life reflects your own thoughts back to you.

Instead of focusing your thoughts with negativity and doubt, feed your mind with positive and confident thoughts.  Having a box of quotes can help you do so.
