Life Coaching 101: How to Live Life to the Fullest?

A lot of people aspire to live their life to the fullest, but only few does.

Most of us live our life each day just to survive.  We wake up each morning, travelling to the least place we want to be, dealing with people that keeps on annoying us, and doing the tedious or boring tasks we really hate to do.

Why is it that despite the perfect job or position we have, glamorous clothes we are wearing, expensive stuff we possess, we still look miserable and unhappy in life?  Why can’t stress, negative thoughts and anxiety stop bothering us?  And why is it your life becomes much harder and cluttered each day?

Well, my friend, maybe, just maybe, you need to stop and take a moment to read this article.

Make a Life, Not Just a Living!!!

Life is a wonderful gift that is temporary.  But most of us forget this truth that’s why we live our life settling and aiming for material things, thinking that true success and lasting happiness lies on acquiring material things, power and prestige in life.

Well, I’ll be a hypocrite if I’ll say material possession isn’t important.  But what I’m trying to point out is that, sometimes, or most often, people chase too much for these material possession, power and prestige that they forget how to truly live life to its fullest.

I’d like to use my personal experience as an example.  In the past, I’ve used to be a person that chases for a very promising career, prestige and material possession.  And because of this high desire, I was ready to sacrifice my most important asset, that’s time, just to meet the tasks and expectation of my dream.  At a very young age of 23, I was able to achieve and acquire the career progression and prestige I was aiming for, but upon acquiring it, I wasn’t as happy as I’ve thought I will become.   That day I came to realized what truly matters in life.  Then, my journey to living life to the fullest started.

You too have the chance to make a change and start living life to the fullest.  You too have the CHOICE to create a positive change in your life and start living a true success and lasting happiness in whatever you choose to do.

All it takes is for you to stop for a minute and reflect on these simple truths in living life to the fullest!!!

1. You Only Have One Life, Live it fully!

Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.  Life is short, so enjoy it to the fullest.

2. Be Alive Today

Not neither yesterday nor tomorrow.  Past can’t be brought back and the future will always be uncertain. Today is a gift which is why it’s called Present.

3. Aim for Balance

Your life is affected by the four aspects that are mental (brain), emotional (heart), spiritual (faith) and physical (body). Learn to maintain balance of the four aspects, for as Spice girls have sung, “Too much of something is bad”.

4. Be Flexible to Change

The more you can adapt to change, the easier your life is. Change can open bigger and better possibilities for you, if only you’d accept it.

5. Be Yourself

Don’t try to act like someone else just to please other people. You don’t have to, plus you can’t. Stand firm to who you are. Eventually, you’d discover who are worth keeping in your life from those who are not.

6. Discover Your Purpose

Life is a journey. As you go along your journey, set your maps. Discover the right you at the right place and time. To help you discover, ask yourself, “If there was no praise or criticism in the world, then who would you be?” Once you know the answer, you are right there.

7. Explore the Beauty of the World

Visit a new place once a year.  Seeing a new place let you discover and learn more of other things in your life. It helps you expand your perspective and horizon.

8. Be Excited to Learning

View life as a continuous learning process. Try to be better than “normal” yourself. Keep expanding and growing.   When you stop learning, that’s when you stop growing.  When I say learning, it doesn’t have to be anything formal.  It can be as simple as the things you’ve wanted to learn back in your childhood years.  Just like the swimming lessons you’ve always wanted to take back in high school. Remember that you’d never be too old to learn and discover where you really can win and be happy.

9. Don’t Wait Memories to Happen, Make it Happen

We should not wait for memories to happen, we should make memories happen. Find time to create memories with others. Make a note of each moment you do not want to forget, both the good and bad.

10. Capture the Moments

The ability to retrieve a memory decreases exponentially unless boosted by artificial aids, like photographs, videos or journals.  There are two ways to capture the moments.  First is through images or pictures. When you capture images of what you see, it builds lasting memories.  Such as the beautiful landscapes you’ve seen, the get together, the places you’ve visited or anything you find interesting to keep.  The second is through journals.  Keep a written record of important events in your life.  It will not only entertain you, but it helps in revisiting lessons you’ve learned from your past experiences.

11. The Most Beautiful Outfit is Your Smile

In our stressful and chaotic world now, frowning and stressful faces are the “in” thing.  But did you know that frowning and stress is the main cause for early aging and ill-health?  A lot of doctors have advice that keeping a cheerful and happy aura is the best medicine for any illness.  Nothing beats a cheerful heart and mind. Be happy regardless. Make the world a better place to live in. Start sharing your sweet smile.

12. Don’t Be Afraid To Take Risk

Life is full of chances and you do not live if you do not take chances. As they say, the higher the risk the higher possibility of success.

13. Be Open to Failures and Learn From It

Do not be afraid to make mistake. Most successful people have gone thru multiple failures. A great treasure of wisdom is hidden on every failure.

14. To Be Productive, You Have to Be Unproductive

Reward yourself for a days’ work. Take that break, you deserve it and you need it in re-energizing yourself to another day of work.

15. Working Hard is Not The Key to Success, It’s Working Smart

The most stressed people are those who do not know how to work smart. Do not take the entire task to yourself. Remember, you are not alone in this world. Learn to maximize and trust the abilities of others. It’s not a weakness to ask for help.

16. Develop Sincere Care for Others

People don’t care how much you know, they want to know how much you care. Start caring and let the people know that you care. Remember, that relationship is more lasting than accomplishments and prestige.

17. Commit to Constant Renewal

You don’t have to go to a new place and get new wardrobes just to renew yourself; it’s as simple as reflection and meditation.  Take a time to be with yourself and be silent. Such can relax the fast-pace life you are in and helps you discover more of whom you are and who you can become.

18. Build Patience by Spending Time With Toddlers and Babies

There’s no better stress reliever than the joy and positive feeling given by the free spirit of a young one.

19. Develop Understanding and Wisdom through the Elders

Listening to the old ones makes you a year wiser. Remember, the best way to learn and avoid extreme failure is through the experiences of others.

20. Hang-Out Often with Like-Minded People

To learn more about you is by being more exposed in to new people and learning from them. These people are often getting together through club, organization or any same group structure.  Having a team of like-minded people will help you and everyone else grow; we evolve at the rate of the tribe we are plugged into.

21. Understand the Power of Reciprocity:  What You Give is What You Receive

The old saying would always be true, “The more you give, the more you receive”. Our value as human being resides on what we can give and not on our capacity of receiving. Start spreading goodness by giving.

22. Agree to Disagree: Respect is the Key to Lasting Relationships

Who wins in an argument? Keep yourself from arguments. Nothing is solved with a heated talk. Learn to listen to what others may say without necessary believing and taking them as true for you.

23. Live Life with the World

Do not live for yourself alone; remember that there are other people and creatures that surrounding this world.  Even if unaware, every move and action you take creates an effect to others.

So learn to take responsibility of your actions. And start contributing your knowledge and experience for the benefit of the whole world.

For a final word, I’d like to leave these words for you to reflect on:

Don’t be afraid that your life will end; be afraid that it will never begin. Today, start living life to the fullest! You’ll never know if you still have a chance to do it tomorrow!  ~ Lou Macabasco – Yanuaria
